The Two Cups Table Lamp is designed for situations where a table light needs to offer more than one way of using illumination. Its two rounded shades create a recognisable dual structure while supporting both direct task or reading light and indirect illumination. At 56 cm high, Two Cups has a noticeable presence on a desk or side table, while the 16 cm shades keep the overall design compact and clearly defined.
Direct task light or indirect illumination
The central idea of the Two Cups collection is the ability to use light both directly and indirectly. For working or reading, the light can be used as local illumination around the task area. Alternatively, light can be directed via a wall or ceiling to create a softer indirect lighting effect in the surrounding space.
This makes the table lamp useful on a desk, but it can also serve as supplementary lighting in a living room or another interior where a softer layer of light is required.
The two circular shades give the fixture a distinctive silhouette. Repeating the same rounded form twice makes Two Cups visually different from a conventional single-shade table lamp without requiring a large fabric shade.
A 56 cm metal table lamp
Two Cups stands 56 cm high, while each shade measures 16 cm in diameter. These proportions allow the lamp to rise clearly above a furnishing surface while keeping the individual light elements relatively compact.
The fixture is made from metal and is available in matt black or matt white. The black version creates stronger contrast against pale surroundings, while the white model provides a lighter alternative for interiors with white or neutral surfaces.
Two replaceable E27 bulbs
The lamp uses two E27 lamp holders, each accepting a bulb up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included, allowing the colour temperature and luminous output to be chosen according to the intended use.
For desk use, the bulbs can be selected to provide the required practical light level. For more relaxed supplementary lighting, a warmer or lower-output option can be used. Matching bulbs are a sensible choice when a consistent light colour and brightness are wanted from both light sources.
The power switch is located on the cord for straightforward everyday operation.
Designed by Marjut Nousiainen
Two Cups was designed by interior architect and designer Marjut Nousiainen as part of the Design by Grönlund collection. The lighting family includes table, floor and wall models, linked by rounded forms, metal construction and matt black or matt white finishes.
The table version brings the Two Cups lighting concept to furniture level and is particularly suitable where the same fixture needs to support both local and indirect illumination.
