Galax is built around a large opal glass dome that serves both as its defining visual feature and as a light-diffusing surface. Light passing through the glass is softened rather than entering the room directly from exposed bulbs, helping produce a more even and comfortable effect. This makes Galax particularly useful when a table lamp is intended to complement general lighting while creating a calmer atmosphere.
Chrome-coloured details provide a crisp contrast with the pale opal glass. Instead of using a separate fabric shade, Galax relies on the glass dome to define its appearance, giving the lamp a distinctive presence in a living room or bedroom.
Opal glass creates softer, more even light
The most important lighting feature of Galax is its opal glass dome. The glass diffuses the light produced by the bulbs, making the light sources less visually direct and helping reduce glare. Illumination is spread around the fitting rather than being concentrated into a narrow directional beam.
This type of light distribution suits a table lamp used for softer supplementary illumination. Galax is not a directional task or reading light; its strength lies in the diffused light surrounding the dome. In a living room it can add a lower layer of light alongside ceiling lighting, while in a bedroom it works naturally for creating a more relaxed atmosphere.
Placing the lamp where its glass dome can be seen from several directions also allows the simple rounded form to become part of the interior.
Two replaceable E27 light sources
Galax takes two E27 bulbs, each with a maximum wattage of 40 W. Bulbs are not included, so compatible E27 light sources are selected separately. The replaceable design also means the bulbs can be renewed later without replacing the complete fitting.
Using two light sources brings illumination into the opal glass from more than one point. The dome then softens and spreads the light around the fitting. Using matching bulbs helps maintain a visually consistent appearance across the illuminated glass surface.
The power switch is located on the cord, allowing Galax to be operated directly from the lamp without requiring a dedicated wall switch.
A distinctive glass table lamp for living rooms and bedrooms
Galax is particularly suited to living rooms and bedrooms. As a table lamp, it can be positioned on a suitable furniture surface to supplement the room’s other lighting and introduce light at a lower level.
The rounded opal glass dome gives Galax a recognisable silhouette, while the chrome-coloured details add a crisp finishing contrast. It suits anyone looking for a table lamp without a conventional fabric shade and who values the softer, glare-reducing effect of opal glass.
