Meukow takes its character from two defining features: the teardrop-shaped shade and its rippled glass surface. The textured glass gives the pendant visual depth even when switched off, while light passing through and reflecting from the surface emphasises the irregular pattern. The result is more decorative than a completely smooth glass shade without making the overall form overly complex.
The three colour and glass combinations also give the same pendant noticeably different expressions. Smoked, clear and champagne glass each interact differently with the fixture’s appearance, while the corresponding black, chrome and brass finishes complete the individual versions.
Teardrop shape and rippled glass define the design
The Meukow shade measures 27 cm in diameter and the pendant itself is 33 cm high. These dimensions place it in a medium-sized category: the glass shade is large enough to be clearly visible, but the 27 cm diameter keeps the fixture relatively compact.
Its teardrop silhouette narrows towards the top and becomes broader through the lower section of the shade. The rippled glass surface emphasises this form and creates changing reflections across the shade. This textured surface is one of Meukow’s most recognisable design features.
The pendant works especially well where the glass shade remains visible from different viewing angles. The glass is an active part of the design rather than simply a cover around the light source.
Three combinations of glass and finish
The matt black Meukow is paired with smoked glass. This is the darkest of the three versions and gives the teardrop silhouette a strong, defined appearance.
The chrome version uses clear glass. Its transparent shade keeps the fixture visually open and allows the interior of the pendant to remain more visible through the glass.
The brass version is combined with champagne glass. The warm metal tone and champagne-coloured shade create a coordinated tonal combination. All three options retain the same teardrop form and rippled glass texture, allowing the choice to be based primarily on the desired colour character.
E27 lamp holder provides flexibility in bulb choice
Meukow has one E27 lamp holder rated for a maximum of 60 W. The bulb is not included, so a compatible light source can be selected separately.
The replaceable E27 format gives flexibility when choosing a bulb for the required lighting. Final light output, colour temperature and other bulb characteristics depend on the selected light source. Because the glass shade is such a visible part of the fixture, the appearance of the bulb can also be considered when completing the pendant.
Three-metre suspension for flexible positioning
Meukow has a 3-metre adjustable fabric-covered cord. The generous length makes the pendant suitable for different suspension heights and also provides useful adjustment in higher spaces.
The fixture uses ceiling hook mounting and includes a luminaire plug. The adjustable suspension makes it possible to fine-tune the hanging height in relation to the proportions of the room or the furnishing positioned beneath the light.
