Glasgow 3 builds its shape around three separate spherical glass shades. Each shade sits at the end of a long arm, spreading the light points across the fitting rather than concentrating them in one compact area. This creates an open, three-dimensional pendant with a clear horizontal presence while leaving generous space between the individual globes.
Glasgow belongs to the Design by Grönlund collection. Spherical glass shades are the defining feature of the family and continue through the Glasgow 5 Vertical and Glasgow 9 ceiling lights. Glasgow 3 is the lightest of the three pendant configurations, retaining the recognisable glass-globe character in a simpler three-light arrangement.
Spherical glass shades at the ends of long arms
The visual character of Glasgow 3 comes from the relationship between its rounded glass shades and long, slender arms. The globes provide a simple geometric form, while their separated positions keep the centre of the fitting open and visually light.
This structure works particularly well where a pendant is viewed from several directions. Because the shades occupy different positions around the body, Glasgow 3 reads as a three-dimensional object rather than as a flat or enclosed ceiling fitting.
The widely spaced composition also gives the pendant visual reach without requiring one broad solid shade. It is therefore well suited to an interior where a ceiling light should have presence while maintaining an open silhouette.
Smoked glass or champagne-coloured glass
Glasgow 3 is available in two clearly differentiated colour combinations. Smoked glass shades are paired with a black frame, creating a darker and more graphic appearance. The second version combines champagne-coloured glass with a brass-coloured frame for a warmer overall palette.
The dimensions and construction remain the same in both versions, so the choice can be based primarily on the surrounding colours and the level of contrast wanted in the interior. Black emphasises the long lines of the frame, while the brass-coloured option introduces a warmer metallic tone.
In both colourways, the spherical shades remain the central design element and preserve the recognisable character shared across the Glasgow family.
Replaceable G9 LED bulbs and adjustable suspension
Glasgow 3 takes three G9 LED bulbs with a maximum wattage of 5 W each. The bulbs are not included and are selected separately. Compatible bulbs must have a maximum diameter of 19 mm, an important detail to check when choosing the G9 LED light sources.
The replaceable bulb construction means the light sources can be renewed later without replacing the complete pendant. It also allows suitable compatible G9 LEDs to be selected according to the intended lighting result.
The adjustable three-metre cord gives plenty of flexibility when setting the hanging height. This makes Glasgow 3 suitable for higher ceilings as well as more conventional room heights. The pendant uses hook mounting, and the Finnish version is supplied with a ceiling plug.
Glasgow 3 is well suited to anyone looking for a glass pendant with spherical shades but preferring an open, widely spread structure to one large enclosed globe. Its three light points, two distinct colour combinations and adjustable suspension make it a flexible member of the wider Glasgow lighting family.
